I love the doxa also. The design reminds me of something that Cousteau would wear. It has the vintage totally no-nonsense diving feel of the mid-sixties to mid-seventies. Yet I haven't afforded myself one, I can't help but feel a bit too desk diver-ish with that watch. The double bezel with decompression calculator goes beyond any of my experience to the point where I feel I don't "deserve" that watch. It is such a performance specific tool that it communicates that the wearer actually is a diver. I'd feel like a poseur. (This admittedly whacky idea incidentally saves me from confronting the fact that realistically I just can't afford a doxa these days.) It important tyo note that I don't however extend that hypocrisy to others. I understand that this is my personal quirk. Same as for the Astronaut, Pilot, Formula One driver, etc. styles. I wouldn't assume the wearer to be an astronaut (or a hypocrite) for wearing that style watch. That being said; If I were even a recreational scuba diver I would find a way to have one. I do have a diver styled watch but not so much a serious diving tool as the doxa. I justify that I "need" that watch for sailing, swimming (sometimes with fins and mask) and generally beating the heck out of with impunity. (and it's cheaper!) ...thanks for reading this little glimpse into my dementia. GREAT CHOICE-GREAT WATCH!

:) I know where you're coming from, Ablejack. The decompression tables aren't something I can use (at this point in my life, anyway). However, I do swim a lot, so the water resistance is important to me, and the bezel timer helps to make sure I exit the pool before my skin gets all...er...pruney

Especially when it takes the form of all these suweet Doxas you guys have! hand6.gif Now O, I don't suppose you have a favorite Doxa you'd like post as the cherry on the top of this utter and totally derailed thread?
