I just got this vintage Longines (scroll down) today from eBay PowerSeller "cushioncase" (John), who is probably the premier seller of restored vintage watches on eBay.

This extra-long solid gold Longines was made the year Hitler invaded Poland.  The serial number on the movement dates it to 1939.  The case is a "streamliner," which was popular in the late 1930s as aviation played a larger role in Western culture, and streamlined airplanes showed their influence in other designs, including watches.

Although Bogie did not have an endorsement contract with Longines during his lifetime (1899-1957), he did ink one later: :D

Perhaps my Longines is the watch he wore in this photo...he looks about 40 here (well...almost):

This is a Longines print ad from 1938:

Here is the Longines I picked up at the Post Office today (Saturday).  I've been looking for a Longines just like this one for a long time.

Sorry...I got a little self-indulgent with the photos!  Mea culpa. subtlelaugh.gif

That is a great looking piece. You're making me start to search the bay for vintage pieces. Would love to see a wrist shot.

It is simply gorgeous and so elegant....:)

There is nothing about it that doesn't say "class"......those hands and numbers/the dial itself.

What size is it?

Think I'm a wee bit envious...... :D

And, fantastic pictures--taking it down to the bone.  happy1.gif

Fantastic watch, Tom. I would want wear it every day but would be afraid to for fear of marring it's pristine beauty. Only in San Diego where you can wear a long sleave almost every day. Congrats on a unique piece that is almost impossible to duplicate
