All seafarers should have one! And I'm glad I grabbed this model before they become too scarce. I'm an ex Coast Guardsman 4 yrs and 4 yrs as a Merchant Mariner as well and I've always wanted a SMP. Purchased it at an AD because I don't see myself selling or trading it any time soon. I'm not afraid to say I'm thrilled to own this jewel!!

Big congrats, Norman. I would venture to say that model Seamaster (2255.80 I think) is my favorite.  The dial is a beautiful blue and the bezel sparkles!!. Enjoy that beauty!

It is discontinued and it's not looking like used prices are dropping much. Also, the mark on the back you're referring to is also on mine.
