OK, 116520 = Rolex Cosmograph Daytona for those that don't do Rollie numbers.

I have been on the lookout for one of these for years now.  At first the waiting lists were too long and the cost prohibitive.  Now they are more readily available, but it is definitely the one Rollie that retains a healthy chunk of its retail value.

Well, yesterday morning this watch shows up in the classifieds of our local junkmail newspaper.  Not expecting it to be either real or affordable, I phone the PO.  Turns out he is in dire straits financially and needs cash fast.  Needless to say, I struck a great deal right there and then.

What a score!  This is my ultimate grail chrono.  This is a "Z" model, so the watch is about 3 years old.  It looked a bit tatty when I got it, but a good scrub with a brush cleaned it right up.  I also polished the bracelet clasp, and she's good as new!   Have not had a chance to wear it yet, so will do a wristshot and report on accuracy later.

I really consider myself blessed.  The other two grails were the PAM098 and the DSSD.

It is really sad that these economic times are really hard on some folks.  I would hate to have to sell my watch collection.......

The complete set:

Also on my grail list, loving the look of that.

I'm not a big fan of Rolex BUT, the Daytonas are the Holy of Holys as far as Grails go.

Big Congrats Thumbsup3.gif

Absolutely a great buy and a great, great watch! Kudos!!! Now you just need to get its brother, the black-faced variant!!! I was told that in Japan, years ago, the craze was for the black-faced one but about 3 to 5 years ago, the shift changed and the craze went to the white-faced versions. That's a great Daytona you have. Regards to all.
