Wow Simon I didn't anticipate the watch being in such nice condition for the bargain price you were paying for it. The watch looks really nice!:D

Thank you Mark, John and Scott
for the compliments.

I took twenty minutes cleaning the
grime off the watch, by using soap and water
with an old tooth brush.

I've managed to get the stretch bracelet
cleaned to the point that it looks new again.

During my lunch break at work, I removed
the bracelet from the case and gave the
watch an once over.

The watch looks even more spectacular
than I've received last night.

Soon, I 'll get the movement cleaned
and adjusted with a new replacement
crystal.

Cheers,
Simon

Simon, since I suspect you are really and madly into vintage pieces...to add to the joy of owning that watch, I'd suggest you go through your usual sources and source a "skeleton" bracelet, which i think was started by Omega years and years ago. I used to have a decent solid gold Wittnauer years ago, had it restored and then fitted it (after a long search) with a gold skeleton strap. It came out very unique and special. If you find a bracelet and it comes out too big for your wrists, take it to a jeweller to have it "trimmed". make sure you have the small clasp, as they all come with small clasps, tightened. I think all these skeleton bracelts come in yellow gold only. If you find one that's in yellow gold have it dipped/coated/polished to white gold to match your steel case. ;)

Yes,I'll admit that I love vintage watches.

At this point I really don't want
to do too much to the watch.
The bracelet that's currently on
the watch is the original Speidel USA
version and is period correct.

Once the servicing is complete
I'm just going to leave it the way it is.

Who knows.

Having worked six days straight for
two weeks and one week straight
this week.

I am about embark on another six day
work week,as of Aug. 17.

Goal:

1) Provide enough money to my parents

                       And...

2) Hopefully by December.

Just in time for my birthday, I'm seriously
considering pulling the trigger on my grail watch.

IWC Portofino Ref. IW356303 in brown crocodile strap.

Cheers,
Simon

Simon, are you sure about the Portofino? Check out the water-resistance qualities first. You might have to remove it whenever you wash your hands or go under some rain.:)

The IWC Portofino is water resistant to
3 bar (30 m), which means at $3,895 Canadian Dollars
I'll have to be extremely careful.

I'll have to get the brochure during my lunch break.

Cheers,
Simon

I forgot to answer Bigrustypig's question:

The measurements for the Benrus 3 Star,
is 32 mm in width and 40 mm in length.

A size that is seldom seen in modern watches,
but with the purchase of 20 bucks is still a
bargain.

Cheers,
Simon

Note of Correction:

The watch measures 34 mm in width and 39 mm in
length. This does not include the crown.

Cheers,
Simon
