I located this at an auction and although I do not really like gold watches this appealed to me as it is a 30th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War (1945-1975) I have only ever seen one other similar to this. Translates on the case to - "Nothing will be forgotten, nobody will be forgotten" The flaming star is for the Unknown Soldier. This is one of my favourite collection pieces from a collectors point of view and I would like to share it with you all. I was also lucky enough to locate the medal to go with the watch from the same date. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I know it is not very new to my collection but I wish to share it with fellow collectors and enthusiasts. Slava is a long time watch manufacturer of inexpensive watches for the civilian buying public in Russia. The History: The Slava factory (known originally as the Second Moscow Watch Factory) was the second non-military watch maker established in the Soviet Union, in 1924. The watches of this brand have always been meant for civilian consumption, without military or aerospace pretensions. Current Watches: In the 1990s, a Chinese or Hong Kong company approached Slava and acquired the rights to use the Slava name. The watches were to be separate from the Russian-built ones by using a new name "Slava Sozvezdie" (Слава Созвездие), and without the original Slava company logo. Since 2006, these Slava Sozvezdie watches appear in vast quantities, they contain no Russian content but often marked "Russia" on the dial, and are built as cheaply as possible. These watches have nothing to do with the Slava company. As of January, 2006, the Slava factory and its property are to be sold for retail development. However, an employee buy-out resulted in a new incarnation of the Slava watch manufacturing establishment, and it is going strong. Cheers, Simon
