PARNIS
mechanical (hand winding) movement
17-Jewels hand winding Asian 6498 movement
polished Solid 316L Stainless Steel case and back
Case diameter 44mm with out the crown
Thickiness: 11mm
Ash white dial
sub-dial for seconds at 6 o'clock
special scratch proof mineral glass
genuine leather strap

Now I was looking around to see what Chinese watches were about when I came across this Parnis that seemed a bit out of place as it stood out from the others, maybe it was the pictures but the quality looked good. 2 cans of beer later it was mine and funny enough it got held up by the Volcano ash...ash colour dial...hmmm.
Anyway I know its a Swiss copy on the movement of a 6498 but the price tag was low and it didn't really bother me.
Anyway today a jiffy bag turned up but not box shaped and I thought then that it was a bad sign, cheap on the postage an packaging. So this little packed dropped out covered in bubble wrap so I cut it open and this Beautiful watch drops out. I look at it for a bit, its a good weight and the strap was very good, I mean I was not expecting this.
I wound it up and and it started to beat at 21600vph and the small second hand moved nicely around. I set the time and let it run for most of the day and its keeping great time so far. Its lovely to wear and that strap does it justice and softens up fairly quick after putting it on.
The watch does not dig into my hand and overall is just lovely...I mean that really lovely. It is limited edition also out of 1000. I walked out in the sunshine and when I got back indoors I noticed it glowing well, now its not amazing but for a Chinese make the lume normally lets it down in my experience. Let me just work out the price into dollars for you....click click click...just over $70.
Please do not just take my word for it take a look at the pictures.

I've got no experience with the brand; but I have to say that it looks nice. A few members here have posted them, and could probably give an opinion about reliability. If it keeps good time you really can't go wrong for so little money

Not sure what peoples opinions of this would be but I am throwing it out there as it is a Chinese copy of a Swiss movement, something to do with the patent running out on it so its a free for all I think. Dont quote me on that. ThumbsUp02.gif

Oh and forgot this picture.

There are Asian clones of both the 6498 and 6497 movements, i have a few watches with these movements including a Parnis...in my experience they have been very reliable..you can't beat them for the price.

This is a great looking watch ThumbsUp02.gif CONGRATS, really like the dial, especially because it is sterile.

Must be a bad choice as comments are sparse, come;on even if you hate the thing let me know what you think.
I tend to buy risky pieces because I want to see for myself and I think it was a bargin for the money but I have a feeling its if you have nothing good to say about it the posts are few.....let me know either way I dont really care if you hate it but engage.
I value posts here as its a community and respect bad comments as normally people have a good reason to.

Have a good weekend all!!

For 70 bucks, I think you'll have some wrist pleasure for some time so I say it's worth it. I like the design and can imagine the soft leather strap as you described it.

Not a bad choice I'd say. Wear it in good healthThumbsUp02.gif

These are generally good watches per what I know. The SeaGull movement is not bad at all and can be regulated to keep excellent time. I read several positive reviews of Parnis and this one is nice looking and a bargain. The most important point is that you like it. ThumbsUp02.gif

That is my favorite case/movement combination out of china.
There are some of those cases with screwdown backs too instead of the individual screws, either way they are a lot of fun for the money.

If you google search for the IWC F.A Jones you will discover pictures showing that the IWC is really just this watch with a different dial and crown!
Can you believe a company like IWC rebranding a chinese watch like that!subtlelaugh.gif

I have a few Parnis watches, and also their sterile brand counterparts, and I have NEVER had any issues with their design, how well they hold up, or their time keeping or power reserve, they have always been better than what i paid for them.
The ONLY issue I have with them, and unfortunately, its a biggie for me, is their water resistance. I haven't taken any under or in water yet, I don't know how they will hold up. Any one ever chanced one to see what would happen?
