I've been researching for my first watch with an European manufacture movement, and after considering GO, JLC, & Zenith, I ended up with a Panerai.  Now I will admit that even I would put GO, JLC, and Zenith above Panerai as a manufacture, but something about Panerai have always grabbed me, and I liked what I've learned about the P9000 movement, so I picked up a PAM312.

Since my wrist is pretty small, I was a little concerned about the 18mm thickness of this watch.  I wasn't able to find one to try on locally so I ended up taping two quarters to my Moray (I found from another forum that the 312 is 10 quarters thick, and I measured the Moray at 8 quarters thick) to see how it felt.subtlelaugh.gif  The Moray has the same basic shape as the 312 (1950 Luminor case) so that gave me a good idea on how it will wear.  I didn't see the thickness being an issue from that test so I pulled the trigger on the 312.

The watch arrived today and for all intents and purposes, it wears pretty much like the Moray, so I feel that it fits me pretty well.  I'm really happy to finally own a Panerai!ThumbsUp02.gif

A few quick and dirty pics (I immediately threw a couple of nice aftermarket straps on it so no pics with the OEM straps yet):

Oh wow GX!!!!  It seems to be raining GRAILS here at 3T!!! wowzer.gifparty.gifthumbsup.gif

That PAM312 is gorgeous and a real Panerai classic...Very nice choice for your first PAM!!!  I know many don't like to have the date on a PAM, but I really like the combination of the sandwich dial and the date on the PAM312!!!Thumbsup3.gif

Nice strap choices as well!!!

Would love to own one some day...

Congrats and enjoy!!!

Thanks guys!  I'm really enjoying it in the short time I've had it so far.  Hopefully it will serve me well for a long time to come.

For the summer it'll likely spend most of the time on the rubber strap:
