Very nice Traser. Love how clean this watch looks. I am confused by a couple things you said:

1)  "The cosmetic issue here is curious.  Perhaps these are NOS?"

2)  I don't think it would cost you thousands to get into a Ball with similar spec as this Traser. Hundreds though...

The caseback of my watch has some interesting indications:  The engraving seems to have some reddish brown color introduced.  I don't know whether it is applied when new or if it is the result of corrosion.  Just sayin'.  But it is not uniform or even present in all characters and is, as evidenced by the picture that I posted, smeared.  This is not an issue with me because it affects the caseback.  The caseback had a protective plastic skin in place when I received it.  The rest of the watch is cosmetically fine.

The condition of this caseback, coupled with the fact that I could not find this exact watch listed on the Traser web site, made me pose the question that perhaps these T4002.258.52.07 automatic versions are NOS.  That could be one reason why I could not find this model there, and why it is being sold at a substantial discount by a Traser dealer.  At least one Internet retailer states that this model is no longer available.

I am not always the smartest shopper.  Compared to a used Ball Fireman, for example, I agree with you about the price difference being merely hundreds.  But I covet the more expensive
three-hand Ball models!  The Engineer II Arabic may well cost me $1300-$1500 new.  To go up in quality to COSC, when new, we can cross the $2,000/"couple grand" threshold.  I intend to get me a Ball one day, and it will probably be a used watch when I do.

I am as pleased with this watch as I was with the last watch that I bought from Marc.

Thanks for asking these questions.  I am a humble rookie among seasoned veterans here.  You guys are very helpful.

Tom

Sometimes they paint the text or engraving on the caseback to make it more visible and it doesn't take much to wear it out, a day of sweating on it will start the paint loose, and if the caseback was oily to start out with the paint will come off even faster... Not saying thats the case here I haven't seen any trasers with painted engravings before....just thinking out loud a bit...

This traser is a discontinued model. They (Switzerland) stopped production about 2 years ago.

Then about one year ago, traser USA was offered to purchase a bulk of them, as the factory had extra dials, hands, movements, etc. . . so they did. A few dealers snatched them up. These white ones are all we have left.

If you have registration problems, just email traser USA from the website and tell them where you bought it. Its all legit.

Thanks-
Marc

Hi Marc,

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sure, my warranty registration went just fine.

Never a worry. It's all good!

Well, I just have to get a better camera.  I am having no luck finding the right amount of light to show of my new radioactive wrist timing device.

You know, I bet there are some sales today!  subtlelaugh.gif

Stay tuned...
