After wearing it now for several days, here are some pics and a brief review:![]() ![]() On a "dirty honey" sharkskin strap... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Side by side with the Orsa Sea Angler... ![]() ![]() On a black carbon fiber strap... ![]() ![]() On the O7 'ploprof' silicone strap... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some quick notes: Pros: 1) Case - impressive size on wrist, yet not heavy. Well machined, polished faceted edges contrasting with the brushed 316L steel 2) Hands - large, easy to read. Wasnt sure I'd like the plonguer style, but they are rapidly growing on me 3) Lume - bright C3 superluminova, on full charge, rivals the Black Monster and lasts almost as long 4) Lugs - drilled thru, easy strap changes 5) Bezel - 120 click, easy to rotate, not loose or wobbly, with lumed pip at top 6) Crown - easy to screw out and in. Positive clicks to each position. Signed with O7 logo 7) Movement - ETA 2824-2...smooth, very smooth. After couple of days of wear, against the atomic clock server, it is still running +1 to +2sec/day. 8) Strap - Soft, pliable silicone strap. 'Ploprof' look, very comfortable. Signed with 'Ocean7' on buckle and both keepers. 9) Case back - ref #4 below, Ocean7 is supplying corrected case backs to owners and will install them if you send them the watch. Cons: 1) Lugs - drilled thru way too close to the end of the lugs, will require 2-2.5mm springbars for security; or custom strap which lets ends 'sit' closer to case 2) Lugs - 24mm, while gives a great choice of straps, pushes the lugs too close to the 4 oclock crown 3) Crown - crowds the lower right lug so that in winding position it is awkward to operate 4) Case back - manufacturer mixed up the part number and serial numbers on the engraving. 5) Dial - appears to be slightly (very slightly) off center when compared to the crystal. This causes the 12 o'clock marker to be marginally misalinged with the 12 o'clock bezel marker. Barely noticeable, and it may be common to not be able to 'exactly' center the dial. Only way to be sure would be a side by side comparison of several LM-1s. Neutral: 1) Lume - hands appear to have a 'dip' line down the middle. From what I have heard, this is normal due to the process in which the lume is applied (the bar that smoothes out the lume leaves a small depression where it was lifted up). Noticeable in daylight, but doesnt affect the quality of the lume at night time. Overall I give it big hand6.gif. Steve Last edited on Sun Feb 25th, 2007 10:00 pm by srh_pres |

Nice write up steve. The watch looks great. Ask shane about a strap. I think his price will be pretty good.

I've been looking at the ocean you posted and its growing on me. I sent a pic to a friend of mine who's a mechanical engineer and asked him if he could drill the lug holes to accept a screwed lug, and he said hell yes. He said he could set up a jig to hold it and use a milling bit to open the lug hole inwards towards the case. I'll send him my orsa for the measurements.

Now that's a cool idea Sean... let me know how it turns out, I may want to try that myself; although I do like those drilled through lugs for spring bars - so dang easy to change straps. :dude:

I'm having it done on my Vixa. Its got plenty of room. Kerry is a perfectionist and won't scratch the case. Besides, I am ordering shanes new diablo 2 for it.

Damnit Steve! I guess I need to buy one now. Oh, I did order a scorpion at the presale price, even though I waited so long, they still honored the 499.00 price instead of the 699.00 now.
