I ordered it from Katsu-san, near the height of the dollar-yen exchange last week.  But I can tell you right now it's worth it.  No regrets.  When my wife called this afternoon saying that the package came, I felt like I just won the lottery!

The watch is as beautiful as I imagined it to be.  How many of you knew it has a manual wind function?  You can charge it to 72 hours reserve with about 5 full turns.  It's that quick.

I bought the watch because of the overall looks (e.g., saw blade) but the coolest part about this watch once you see it in person is the second hand movement.  WOW.  Very satisfied.  I'm wearing this puppy to sleep!!

A few you mentioned about buying from Marc at Island Watch.  I actually contacted Marc about this watch because I'd prefer to buy it from him (I bought a green Zeno from Marc) but unfortunately he doesn't have it in stock.  So I went with Katsu -- he was great too.

If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask.

I took two more pictures but they came out blurry.  As you probably can tell, I could have wiped the watch a little more (the camera highlighted the smudges).  Maybe I'll take nicer pictures for the weekly contest.

The reviews said this was a large watch but the face isn't any larger than my Zeno.  Probably because the outside is mostly black.  It is thicker but I want my cool watch to stick out anyways!

Per Katsu-san's site its measurements are:
*Diamater:45mm
*Thickness:17mm

If you think it's too big or too thick, believe me when I say it's not in person.  (Assuming you like to wear divers.)

Also the pictures I've seen of this watch before I bought it made the saw blade look somewhat smooth but in fact the teeth looks "sharper" in person.  In fact the entire watch has sharper edges than the pictures I've seen.  Probably because of the great close ups.  My amateur picture pales in comparison to theirs.

Thank you to you all.  You guys are really great and offer the support that people like me need in order to make the best decision.  As requested, below are some more photos next to the green Zeno I bought from Marc.  But first, some thoughts and comments on what I thought of my watch so far.

Notice it is thicker but believe me it doesn't look gaudy at all.  I actually slept with it and it was very comfortable, and frankly more so than my Zeno.  Even with the band, it feels about the same weight as my Zeno.   But as you can see, it's not any larger in the face.

I previously called the bezel design the "saw blade" but it's called the "saw tooth".  LOL.  It's really not sharp but again it LOOKS sharper in person than in the other pictures I've seen.

The GMT hand is not flat white as I thought it was before I bought the watch.  Once it hits the light, it's glossy.  But you won't notice the gloss and tends to disappear until you need it.  Very well designed by Seiko.   After thinking about it, making it red (as some have suggested in other forums) would make it worse.  I'm sure of this.  This watch is all business.  Black and white, with shades of either.  You want color?  Get a parrot.

The dial.  WOW.  What can I say?  It's completely flat black, unlike anything you'll ever see.  As past reviewers mentioned, the dial IS built around the markers.  Very cool.

From the beveled design which makes the watch comfortable to wear (see photos 3 & 4) to the "S" on the crown (has personal significance to me) to the quick release band clasp (see photos 7 & 8), there isn't a more thought out, arguably PERFECT presentation.  And with a Spring Drive?  There too many reasons for any watch enthusiast to NOT get one.

Two things that a few reviewers didn't like that I ESPECIALLY like.  The hex at the top and bottom and the power reserve.  They just don't like the hex being there and the power reserve is too shiny.  Actually Seiko did it right.  The hex is very unusual, and it screams "I'm all business, don't mess."  LOL.  The power reserve shine is perfect because it distinguishes the other markers and so it doesn't "clutter" the dial with many of the same sheen, which is perfect design in my opinion.  Plus it highlights the cool part about the Spring Drive: 72 hour reserve.  At least in your mind.

Which brings me to this point.  I agree with past reviewers about your motivation to get this watch.  If you want to cause envy, get a Rolex.  If you want people to recognize your watch, get a Rolex.  No doubt despite it being a Seiko, people will see this watch as an expensive watch but they won't see it as a Rolex.  What you DO get is complete personal satisfaction that you've bought a watch unlike any out there.  The owner of a jewelry store I brought it to last night to get the band fitted saw the second hand and noticed the difference.  But he's not the normal Joe Blow.  The public will probably think it's an expensive Seiko, you know, for $200 or so.  LOL.  But it'll be cool if another WIS see my watch and he/she gets blown away. It probably won't happen often but when it does, we'll both have stuff to talk about!!

And by the way, WEAR the band.  I saw some reviewers changing the band until there's a "special" occasion.  Come on.  Enjoy the watch.  Resale value?  Who cares. (Although I suspect if you don't abuse the watch [who would?], you'll still get a pretty good resale.)  I'll never sell mine -- unless of course I'm complete broke and my wife and kid need food and medicine!!

Based on the serial number, mine was recently manufacturered.  Katsu-san really did good.

If you guys are interested in buying one, let me know if you have any questions or concerns and I'll help out as much as I can.  Enjoy the pics.

Those Spring Drives they offer in America frankly doesn't look as nice as what they offer in Japan.  Not the Spring Drive itself but the design.  Just my opinion.  Some people like the bland look.  But then some people like grits.  Sorry, I like my watches to stand out BUT not to the level of Rolex bling that causes envy or "who does he think he is?"  I bought this because I know *I* would feel good about wearing it.  And you know what?  That's all that matters.

sweet car and sweet watch!!  I have been looking for the perfect Seiko and this looks like it would fit the bill perfectly....was close to grabbing a Sumo...but this is looking like the one to beat.

Mid life crisis, bought a red Speed3, enzo, monstrum and now the seiko...

My Sub and 18k Navitimer...are being neglected.

Wow.  I definitely have 'Watch Envy'!!!  The 600m Spring Drive Diver is definitely on my Grail list.  Those are great pictures, thanks a ton for posting them.  I like your comments about Rolex vs. Spring Drive, and I agree with you about 1 billion %.  I'd much rather have the Spring Drive.  (Well, actually, i'd rather have both a Rollie, AND a SD!!!!, but if i had to choose... :)

Hope you wear it in good health and enjoy it!!!

...Maybe in a few years when my disposable income is higher i'll be getting one of those.
