Well, I finally got my furnace building done.  Started on it back in oct but, winter set in early and didnt get good weather till last week to get it finished.  This is where we were last march.

Here we finished the framing last week.

Finally with the tin on.  Its just a 20'x20'  I have to do some wiring inside and build a work bench.  The hard part is done.  Now to get it filled up with firewood. yahoo.gif

Next project is building a chicken coop.  I have 25 one day old chicks coming on june 1st.  Gonna try my hand at selling some fresh eggs.

Hey if you need a insight on how to raise chickens my dad has been doing it as a fulltime hobby for 10 years. He also sells eggs on ebay too. I think last time we talked he was telling which ones he thinks produce the best eggs and are the easiest to maintain. Also get some owl traps to so they won't run off with your chickens. And the best animal my dad has found out as a guard for them is a Manx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manx_(cat) . My dad also builds his own incubators and chicken coops so he is a hard core "chicken man".

Thanks guys,  I am by no means a carpenter but I guess I can hold my own.  I have built a room in my basement (my antique radio room), an addition to the house, an addition to my one garage and now this building.  This was my first free standing building.  I am only one quarter of an in out of square in the one corner.  So, no too bad I guess.  Fill is coming tomorrow so I can get the ground graded up to the floor and get a ramp up to the rear sliding door.

As for the chickens, We have had turkeys in the past.  Just going to be a new experience selling eggs.  I have white, brown, and tinted layers coming.  Dont know how well the tinted will sell but we will see.

Tony, it is to house my furnace and firewood.  I use the furnace to heat my house and 2 buildings.  I live on the top of a mountain and the wind is pretty wicked in the winter so the building gives me some protection from the elements while firing the furnace and gives me a place to keep my firewood nice and dry.
