I was reading BBC News online and a huge
Congratulations to...

Zac Sunderland from Marina Del Ray, California.
Became the youngest person to sail around the
world. At 17 years old, he had sailed a
28,000 mile journey that took 13 months
that faced storms, pirates and equipment failure.

Just curious as to who would have sponsored Zac's wristwatch for such a daredevil stunt. Maybe none of the big houses.

Simon, if you were Zac, who would you approach to sponsor the watch?

That's a really good question.

In the past, Breitling sponsored Steve Fossett
and Richard Branson's around the world balloon
flight.

If I was sailing around the world and needed
a sponsor. It would have to be Longines.
It was the watch brand that was worn by
Admiral Richard Bird,Amelia Earhart and Charles
Lindberg, for their long distance travels.

I read about his journey last month in ESPN the Mag (he was getting ready to enter the Panama Canal at that time) and I kept thinking he is only 17 years old!  He has to be an extremely courageous man to be able to endure all those trials and tribulations not to mention the never ending loneliness!  I wonder what he will do next in his life?  What an outstanding role-model to other teens!  I tip my hat to this amazing young man. hand6.gifhand6.gif
