A year doesnt seem like a tough enough sentence to me.  people who achieved such medals risked life and limb and may have actually saved lives.  Wonder if he has any Military experience?  If he does, maybe he will serve in a Military prison?  What a loser.

Jail time is the wrong way to go. Why waste tax dollars on a faker like that. He wanted to act like he served the country. Make him serve his community and make him do like 800 to 1000 hours of community service.

Why not send these guys to to the places they claimed to have served in? That might teach them a lesson. toon1.gif

Thats what I said in the other thread.  Dump them off in some remote part of  Afghanistan and let them fend for themselves.

Maybe a tattoo that says "LIAR" across his forehead, or make him take out a 2 page ad in a national newspaper with the same word and nothing more than his picture???

If he is found guilty - it doesn't really matter why he did it. Shame is a greater disincentive amongst "peers" IMHO. Perhaps he could do that 1000 hours of community service the Skip mentions - but at an Army or Navy base, and wearing a fluoresecent orange jumpsuit with a sign on the back saying "I spat on you, your ethics, your achievements, your traditions, your military and your country. Wanna chat?".

There's not much worse than claiming an identity you never earned, or trading off the good deeds of others to make yourself feel big.

Lowlife.

I actually pity this impostor. He must have had a really weird childhood. He deserves to be punished though and really see jail time.

I seem to recall another similar character on another forum.....;)

I met a fella trying to get Veteran benefits back in '94 I think it was who washed out in week 3 of USMC bootcamp. He had gone as far as putting USMC tatooes on both arms. He had it all down well. He tried to say he spent 3 years in the Corps. There are many out there like that. Very sad. The Service officer of course put the "denied" stamp all over his paper work and had him tresspassed off the property.
