Hey guys, as some of you know I've been in perpetual travel mode since the beginning of the year, actually have already logged over 100,000 miles on Delta since February 1st...have not posted much but I do check out what's going on with my 3T buddies every day.
Anyway, I'm in New York this week and was am lucky enough to be staying in a hotel that overlooks the World Trade Center site, I can literally drop a piece of paper from my terrace into the construction site.
With the 10 year anniversary (if you can call it that) coming up in September i thought I would share some pics of what is going on for those of us in other parts of the country or another country.
The construction is non-stop, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, with several projects going on at the same time.
Here are some pics....
One World Trade Center (The Freedom Tower) this building will end up being a hair taller than the original towers, it is not being built on the exact site but right across the street...right now it is at about 73 stories.
This is the site where Five World Trade Center will be built
This is where the Vehicular Security Center (VCS) is being built. This is a below grade structure that will be used to screed buses, trucks, and cars entering World Trade Center site and its array of facilities.
This is where Three World Trade Center is being built
This is Four World Trade Center at about 25 stories
This is actually the original site of the North and South Towers, this whole area is now a park with the National 9/11 Memorial and Museum that will open by September 11th. In the original footprint of each tower there is now a reflecting pool with water falling into the pool on all four sides. This pic shows the South Pool where the South Tower stood and in the top left side of the pic you can see the North Pool.
