Hi everyone. I used the search engine but couldn't find what I'm looking for (... over 900 pages with word 'Watch BOX' in it!!!!  ). I've been looking for a good watch box for long time but can't seems to find anything interesting at reasonable price. I would like to hear your recommendations for a good storage unit. I'm looking for something that could store about 20 watches if possible (or less). My main criteria are:- Can take watches with case up to 50mm plus crown (55mm) - Solid construction and durable (wood, metal,plastic...) to provide good protection - Reasonable price (under $200) - I don't care about display window, box is to store watches, not to show - lock if possible, but not necessary - I'm not looking for something fancy but practical,only a plus if it looks good too - I'm in Canada and need to be able to buy through Internet - i prefer to store watches on pillow rather than flat, easier for watches with ss bracelet IMO Actually, i would like to hear what you guys are using to store your collection safely. I know that some of you have very imaginative ways to do so and if it can be done with minimal cost, it's even better so i can keep funds for timepieces, not storage. ;) Thanks in advance for your help.hand6.gif Daniel

Daniel, I have about 10 of these boxes, each holds 24 watches inthe bottom and another 12 in the cover (these need to be small), they are really well made, have dual locks, are very compact and keep the watches very secure...and at $45 they are a great value.. http://www.jewelboxco.com/View.aspx/11776/Deluxe-Watch-Case

Thank you Nabco, Indeed, it looks to be a nice box. Exactly what i was looking for and at $45, i can't go wrong. I'm going to try one but before, would you say that a 40mm or 42mm watch would fit in the upper part? The lower part seems big enough for more substantial watch, right ? Again,  I really appreciate your feedback!!!Daniel

The bottom will easily hold 49mm to 5omm...the top probably no larger than 38mm, depending on the lug style

That's good, i've seen that they have a few different models. Thanks again for your helpfull recommendation Nabco. I don't have any small watch ( less than 40 mm) but I can probably use the upper part for spare straps or something else. hand6.gif Daniel

Hi Daniel. Just to add something and I am not disagreeing with anybody....just another view. What I would use if I were to store all my watches under the bed or in a cabinet would be Pelican carrying case. They come in various sizes, are very sturdy and built like a tank for protecting those valuable watches. Once locked shut with pressure valve closed, they become airtight and can even float in water. The Pelican interior can come in soft sponge that allows you to cut out the shape you like for the watches you have. I never store my watches facing up and prefer to store or keep them crown down so that the lubricants will respond to physics and gravity and will coat those most important parts towards the crown. This means, you will need to place your watches inside the Pelican like bills inside a wallet....crown down. The Pelican can then be stored in lying flat position under the bed which can be easily retrieved in case of an emergency.

Thanks Bigrusty, I heard very good things about these boxes but the fact that i had to cut out and fit my watches in kept me away from them (We are so lazy sometimes!). Maybe i should reconsider. They are also at very reasonable price for what they are. I guess the 1490 case would be the best one for watches? It's also true that these are built like a tank... Hummm, interesting. Well, i think i now have two very good options to chose from! Thanks for your help again. :D Daniel
