I have been enjoying a new Accutron VX200 Diver for the past several weeks and thought I would do a review. I know other forum members purchased this model so feel free to comment.![]() Size and heft: This is a 43mm dial with a large, easy-to-grasp crown with the Accutron tuning fork logo etched on it. It has a substantial feel and heft but not so heavy that it is an effort to wear. ![]() Dial: The dial is done in a matte black finish. It is easy to read. The red and black unidirectional bezel is done in the same matte finish. I don't know what the lume material is, but it glows like a flashlight. I suspect Super-luminova but I don't know that for a fact. Even the logo at the 12 o'clock position glows brightly. The second hand is black with a sporty red tip with the tuning fork logo at the opposite end. The date is at the 3 o'clock position absent a cyclops. SWISS MADE is at the 6 o'clock position. Sapphire crystals front and back. ![]() Movement: An ETA 2824-2 powers the watch. It is smoooooth. This is my first ETA time piece. I haven't checked the accuracy since it has only been a few days but so far, it seems to be keeping good time. It is 200 meters water resistant. ![]() Bracelet: The links on this watch each have 13 sections. I sized it myself following the simple three-part directions that came with the watch. It utilizes friction pins and sleeves. I have extra long pin removers designed for Omega bracelets and sizing it was a breeze. The bracelet is highly polished sstl, hefty, and quiet to wear. When I run my finger on the underside of the bracelet, the links cascade like a waterfall. It is a beautifully made bracelet. While I won't go diving with this it has a divers extension just in case my wife buys me a wet suit. ![]() Attention to detail: The watch lists for $995 and seems to sell on the internet for half that price. I paid $249. But it has the fit and finish of a thousand dollar watch. It comes in a black lacquered watch box that is the nicest I have, not that I am planning to wear the box. Overall, this was quite an unexpected find and if the chronograph version with a Valjoux 7750 ever becomes available for a similar cost savings, I will jump at the chance to own it. Citizen has just purchased Bulova, the parent company of Accutron and they are getting a quality operation IMHO. ![]()

Great review and pics Prodiver. I agree with everything written. I picked up the blue dial version. Almost wish I would have picked up two. Great value for the money. Mine seems to be regulated very good....only gaining about 5 or 6 seconds per day. Thanks for the review. ![]()

I just got the black/black version and I absolutely love it! It is my first ETA movement and it is noticably smoother than my Seiko divers. It also hacks which is a 1st for me. My only complaint includes the second hand. For some reason the blue model uses a silver one with a red tip, but my model uses a black second hand with a red tip. A silver second hand would show up much better against the black face of my watch. I love that tuning fork and want to see is as clearly as possible! I also wish it had a push-button release on the clasp. It is uncomfortable to dig at the friction clasp with my fingernails. It is a high quality piece and I take great satisfaction knowing that I paid very little for it. I think it has officially filled the slot reserved for the Tissot SeaStar that I thought I needed. Same great Tissot bezel design, same quality, lower price, and I like the tuning fork better than the seahorse! ![]() Last edited on Thu Dec 20th, 2007 11:05 am by glock24 |

Just sized my bracelet...what a monster. I usually remove 2 links, sometimes 3 and once, 4, but this sucker has 5 links removed and it is still a little loose!!! Great watch, my only complaint is that the bezel is a 60 click and does not exactly line up...minor problem as I'm not all that anal...especially at $255 shipped for this beauty!

I have this same model (black/red bezel) and the one thing that bothers me that hasn't been mentioned is the white date wheel. A black wheel with a white or red date would have been a subtle, classy choice. One man's opinion. E
