I have owned some spectacular watches. I was originally spoiled by being able to walk into Rolex North America here in Dallas for repair and customer service. Being able to speak to some one who intimately knows your watch and its working is an amazing experience. Sales-folk rarely know as much as we do about the watches we love. This spurred my adventures into small watch companies as I loved the fact I could speak with the owner or person in charge. This led me to Companies like Korsbek, and at one time made me a HUGE Kobold fan. If fact, I have spent a good deal of time talking with Dan about love, life, and loss even after he left Kobold. (If Mike provided the name and personality for Kobold, Dan provided the magic and business sense that made that company great IMHO). The Seal and Ocean Explorer are in the rank of my Submariner as some of the greates watches I have ever worn. I say this not to stir any pot but simply give a reason why I am surfing this forum now and joining the Dievas family. Don’t get me wrong. Kobold makes one hell of a watch, but I am entitled to my own opinion of a watch company. I have restored and refinished many watches and bring at least a small amount of knowledge with me to this forum. I look forward to seeing my Vortex and spending time on 3T and hopefully can have the honor of adding some of my own watch expertise to this forum. Thanks~!

Good Eye! Yes it a a tube Amp. I am into HiFi and recently "High End" Home Theater. That pic is of my most recent restoration project, a 1961 Magnavox 6v6 based Tube amp. It and a 1968 Harmon Kardon Citation II KT88 based tube amp make up my current HiFi stable. I am using the Anthem AVM-30 Proccesor and Anthem PVA-5 Amplifier for home theater and solid state music use. I may love audio more than watches......Well, maybe just equally.;) Last edited on Mon Oct 12th, 2009 09:10 am by KDSpiv |

Right now I am loving a matched set of JJ Tesla KT88's. I still want to try a set of the new generation Genelex Lions. I run a Sota Star Saphire turntable for vinyl, but have to admit to using it less and less. I have comitted heresy by converting all my music to Apple lossless and buying the Wadia iTransport. I admit it is out of sheer lazy-ness. Having 6yr and 16yr girls keeps my kick back and music listening time to a minimum. BUT.... on date night I break out the jazz and sit back with my wife and set the vinyl a-spinning. I am always amazed that almost ALL the Audio Junkies I know are also watch WIS too. I am SERIOUSLY digging on this forum! ![]()

Welcome aboard KDSpiv. Gorgeous resto on the 61 'vox! (Warning!:Continued audiofool threadjack follows) Love the KT88/6550 not only for hifi, but the tube for bass guitar amps. (another hobby of mine) Current transducers include Vandersteens, AR9's, Klipsch. Primary vinyl grinder Ortofon, Sumiko, VPI. pre and amplification Curl, ARC, B&K, Spectral. None of it tells time, but the Guess Who's "No Time" sounds pretty good through it. woohoo.gif

I have the same turntable and absolutely love it. I spin CD's as well and recently looked at the Wadia unit but couldn't bring myself to start using my ipod as a serious music outlet. What are you using as a DAC ? I've been told that this piece is key to the itransport's successes. I too have a couple of tube amps including an older Scott in mint condition. I think I've spent almost as much money rolling tubes as I have on custom made watch straps. I'm also a huge Kobold fan but recently received my new Vortex. I think you'll be very happy and surprised with this watch especially given the price. It is on my wrist often -right up there with my Kobolds.
