 Yep - sold it on the bay a while back, but it was a heck of a piece of metal. Unusual original orange Omega strap. In the 1970's it cost about $300AUD. It sold for a lot more... Cheers to all! IanM

Hi Steve - it sure did. I am one of the world's worst photographers, but this and other shots are available if anyone else is interested. What is hard to see is that it was used every day for a two week holiday in the 70s, then it sat untouched in a safe for about 20 years, so the lume on the hands was as good as new. No marks, scratches, dents or rubber rot. As I mentioned in another part of the forum - they are darned easy to dent! I probably know (or know of) almost all of the Ploprofs here in Aus and apart from new ones being bought from overseas without my knowledge, all I can say is that there is some bodgy stock here, and some awfully second-hand pieces on the bay. It is interesting to compare the lockdown on the Ploprof crown (which is recessed into the crown and when tightened and aligned into the opening it makes the outer crown edge almost flush) to the proposed single screw crown on the Ocean 7. Hiya Crazy Cajun The red valve is part of the Helium release mechanism. PloProf is the shortened nickname for "Plongeur Professionale" which, when translated from French means "Professional Diver". The watch was made famous by the French inventor of the S.C.U.B.A. - the venerable Mr Jacques Cousteau. It is the watch he wore during many of his famous divinfg adventures. It is a bit of an icon nowadays. Scuba Steve put me onto the Ocean 7 website, where a tribute watch almost identical in overall form to this one is being considered. That site is well worth a look! If you want one - they are even taking pre-orders to see if it is worthwhile going into production. Cheers! IanM

Hiya Steve - if he was talking about my watch, then, same as yours - the red button is nothing more than a bezel lock - correctomundo. Depress the button, turn the bezel and then let go - all done. Sorry to confuse - I read thru the LM-7 forum and got the impression that for theirs it is supposed to be a helium release. It is probably me... Oops  - IanM

You are correct Ian. On the O7 model the red button will be an HRV and not a bezel lock. The HRV is being made to mimic the bezel lock on the O7 model to keep the watch visually similar to the original PloProf.

Hi Nalu - I thought I recognised your name...:D Brilliant shots! Especially the last one with the ocean as the background. Where was that one taken? You can never get enough Ploprof photos, in my opinion too. Does the Ploprof on mesh belong to Gary S from Sydney? and are you going to get one of the O7 LM-7's? It is no Omega, but.... That's Makapu'u beach on Oahu last December. The Ploprof on mesh came from Sarah at Watchco, so it may have been bought from Gary by them. The original owner (engraved on the back) is a gent named Osborn from Augusta, WA. It was pretty knackered when I first got it, but it's doing better now ;)
