SO, I managed to crawl out of Bed yesterday for some fresh air after being cooped up in hospitals and the house for a few days and decided to hit one of the local FLEAMARKETS to see what a poor feller could find to show his friends; hoping to snag a vintage old watch or two. Well, no luck at all.

While browsing around the hundred or so tables, cluttered mostly with junk, I came across a table with what I see is a afairly new Nikon Coolpix Digital Camera. Well now, I glance it over and thought seriously as I am searching for a better camera than the FUJI a400 finepix 4.0 point and click I'm using now.

Well, I had to decline as it was nearly identical to the one I have in faetures and useability; nothing special. Well, I glance around the table quickly while walking away and to my avail, theres another camera (looks pretty special as all I seen was the back with LCD and buttons. I walk back to the table, pick it up and turn it around and low and behold, another NIKON COOLPIX, this one is a CoolPIX 880. Well now, this looks a hell of alot better than what I have now, Bigger, More Buttons, so I fire it up and start playing around with the setup and menu and, what a nice little camera, equiped with changeable lense options for wide lens and tele lenses and microscope setups. Can manually set this camera literaly like a pro slr camera, lens moves like the professionals when focusing??? (like the d40's and so fourth.)

Camera comes with 3 memory cards, bag, nice charger and baterries included, dc adapter to use when charging batteries and neat prolike lens cap. I'm impressed, camera is like new.  The guy was asking $60.00 so I offer him 40.00 and he bites. Now 4 others that were staring at these cameras are watching me watch him as now I got something they thought was just another ordinary junk point and click rip off HAHA stupid asses!!!!!!

Anyway, I was seriously thinking about a NIKON d 40x slr about $800.00 and well with all the medical bills soon to come my way (about 12,000.00 worth) I think this was a great buy for me and besides, I am very new to digital photograpy (and really all photography and cameras in general). This will give me the opportunity to learn the NIKON settings and accessories; most of the features are the same on this 880 as the d40 (not as good by far however; but lots of manual options on this)

So anyway, just fired her up for a while to play around and well, here are a few shots...................

Quick Solute to Vintage Stainless...................

PS-If any one owns a COOLPIX 880 or 990 or similar and have any pointers to share, please feel free to share!!!!!!!! Help a brother win one of them pic-of-the-week contest HAHA)

Cheers and thanks for viewing!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Pres, theres a book released dedicated to the 880 photgraphy, I may pick it up, need a good lesson in photography and using the manual settings (ie: Exposure, aperture, macro, shutters, lighting, flash...........)

Wish I could find stuff like that at our local Flea Market. We have a HUGE weekend flea market that has nothing but crap. I think I have been going for 7-8 years hoping to find that special buy on anything and I don't really remember ever buying anything, ever. Someday though, I will find a super deal on something.

Keep Looking Steve, I get lucky a time or two, but the hunt is the best part of an early Sunday Morning for me (besides browsing the Ladies LOL).
