Have to admit...neither of them really rock my boat...are Benarus trying 'too hard' with these two names as the candidates? Is the future line up all going to be named after fish, afterall there's already the Baracuda?

As the lesser of two evils, I went with Tarpon.

However... I don't like either choice.... :?

I had originally suggested "Sea Lion" which dives to a depth of 500 ft (which is the depth rating for this watch, too). I don't think Ralf liked it very much.

I think the name is not so important as it isn't written anywhere on the watch but I need them to differ the models. Numbers would be more simple, but also a bit boring imo and a fish name matches for a diver watch

When you speak the name REMORA or TARPON it doesn't sound so bad I guess

Sure Stingray sounds better, but there are already to many Stingrays on the market

But I am open for name suggestions for
Benarus #4 (also non fish names)

The #3 has a depth rating  500m and not 500 Ft like the Sea Lion can dive to.  (I say this to avoid any questions about the depth rating)

I didn't say I don't like it but I don't want a Sea Lion after a Sea Devil;)

I have to agree... REMORA sounds like a prescription drug to help you remember if you took your Viagra, and TARPON sounds like a feminine hygiene product (no further description needed I'm sure).

As they say, "there are plenty more fish in the sea" ...some with more striking names than others.

But to properly answer the posted question... I'd go with RAMORA.

At the moment all looks like we are on schedule,  but I don't know when your  #2 will be made, but the PVD coated watches are the last which are ready. I was told the coating needs about 10 days and if it is not ok it will be done again  and that  can cause a delay.

I think the REMORA is only a bit lazy, that is why he sucks on other fishes;)

So gotta go with Tarpon - a noble breed of sporting fish.

(Ralf - is my Sea Devil blue #2 just about ready?)

I know Ralf may feel the name isn't that important but I would beg to differ. The name of the watch should encapsulate the personality of the watch, and be good enough to capture the imagination of new buyers. The two names don't do it for me....I hope the sound of it isn't lost in translation.

I was about to second Ralf's opinion that it's not all that important since the name isn't on the watch. But Sunster makes an excellent point. Like it or not, the name impacts perception and perception impacts sales. For Ralf's sake and all of us who love his watch creations, the Tarpon, or Remora, or whatever it's called, needs to appeal to buyers on all levels.

I don't recall any debate about the Barracuda or Sea Devil names. Everybody loved 'em. But nobody seems to be loving these. Perhaps that's a sign that the search should continue.

Why don't we give Ralf some alternatives? Maybe we can come up with something he and everyone on the forum loves, and if not, no harm done, right?

I must admit my favorite Doxa was always the Sharkhunter because of its name, so ok
Tell me you suggestions and the forum members will decide about the new name.
Remora and Tarpon will stay available but I will add your suggestions .
The person who has suggested the winning name will get a BENARUS 4 watch case and a leather strap at his choice as prize.
Strap and case will be shipped same time as the Sea Devil , because they are not ready yet.

Lets start and  send your suggestions
, maximum 3 for each member

Will have to put my thinking cap on for that!

Just wondering...is there a reason why Benarus doesn't put the names on the watch?
