Not throwing any more fuel on this fire.....just versing my feelings as I am awaiting my moray... I do alot of travelling for work and vacations.....I do have a four slot travel padded watch box, and frankly it does take up alot of space in my carry-on. I like the idea of the roll, for my personal reasons, that I don't own one and it would be of benifit to me when I do travel... ![]()

Oagaspar, you yourself said: "once you start seriously collecting and have been around awhile amassing a large collection those boxes become nothing but a big nuisance" And surely you don't mean to imply you need to keep ALL your boxes in case you want to sell ALL your Benarus watches?

After collecting watches for over 30 years and having quite a large collection, I hope I am not still considered a novice, but I do think the case and overall package of a watch is important and influences your decision to buy. I bought my Sea Devil after I saw photos of the whole package on another forum site. In most cases the watch box is nothing special but this is why I think there has been so much discussion here is the fact that the SD case was so impressive, well designed and unique. I will be happy to get my Moray in its roll, not to travel with but as it will be something new and different but I can totally understand people preferring the SD type case. Everyone should be able to express there opinion without criticism as we all have different tastes and reason for buying things A lot of this is down to Ralf/Steve for doing such a fantastic job on the SD case in the first place.

I then take a picture of the watch, print out the picture to keep it with all this stuff. All this stuff and the pic are all stored in whatever kind of box the watch comes in....they are then put into a large plastic storage box, and put somewhere in my house. I do this for one simple reason, if I ever sell the watch I have the complete kit to go with it. And I agree with Oscar, this is a ROYAL PIMA....I now have 4 48" x 20" x 20" plasticboxes that I need to store some where

That's actually a really good point. I never really expect to sell any of my watches, but always plan to do so just in case. Keeping everything original is a benefit when it comes time to pass it on to another. oagaspar wrote: our Sea Devils came with boxes though and collectors like the original carriages and paperwork on resale if any of us ever decide to sell so the only value of the box is that our watches came in them and need to stay with them in order to keep them original....good try Novice :D...if you want a box buy one ....it has been mentioned several times already that there will be some FS or better yet....buy a Sea Devil and then you will not only have a box but a awesome watch too! :D

the original carriages are as much a part of the watch as the watch itself....hand6.gif it is good to see so many posts and opinions without a flame....I will admit I like to push it a bit but that is how I remember being introduced to this Hobby....my best WIS buddies are those guys who busted my gonads the most when I 1st started....and they still do! ![]()

Here is a quote from the very first Benarus Moray Early Pre Order thread... "The package includes watch with steel bracelet leather and rubber strap." I would much rather get a $600.00 watch for $350.00, than drop $600.00 and get for some glorified packaging. But I can dig where you are coming from. I am just excited about the Moray, and will roll with it.
