As in the title, is the Megalodon case made specifically for Benarus for this project or is it a case from a 'catalog' as was the case (pun not intended) for the Barracuda?

Will still love the project either ways , would just like to know . ;)

Thanks!!snoopy1.gif

Thanks for the prompt reply Ralf ThumbsUp02.gif

I really look forward to the Mega anyway but this is  cool icing on the cake perfect.gif.  Good to know that such an awesome case is unique to Benarus.

Never really liked it when people lumped Benarus as one of those companies that just uses "off the shelf" cases. Now we can say that the Mega is built from scratch by Benarus and will not be seen in any other watch brand. hand6.gif

I don't understand what the hoopla is all about. Other companies have been doing this for years if not decades. That should not detere someone from purchasing any timepiece, especially a Megladon. Even if Ralph used an "off the shelf" case, I would still be getting one just because of his unique styling queues that make it a Benarus, plus the quality and craftsmanship that goes in to every one of his models. But, to know this is exclusively for Benarus is just an added bonus.

Personally i have the Cuda, SD and the Mega is on order. I am with you on owning a Benarus regardless of whether its off the shelf or not. But the fact that its a case just for Benarus adds extra oomph to the Mega ;)

I'm with Badern on this. Even if a watch case were from a catalogue, I'd have no problems with that. If it happens to be exclusive, I'd also see that as an added bonus.

By the way, yesterday I spotted a shelf of Bulovas in a store and was amazed to see that almost all the cases, dials, crowns and bezels were homages and even deadringers to mighty Rolex. I spotted look-alikes of the Datejust, GMT, Sub, Daytona, Yachtmaster and a few more. In fact, there were HIS and HERS models galore. Wow!

I see a slight pattern in the train of thought in this thread, and with bigrusty's thread above, it appears that as watch fans, we accept a certain amount of unoriginality in design, if only we believe that it's for a specific reason, such as to get the word out about a watch brand.

Not all Bulovas (or even huge design replicators such as Invicta) are homages to other watch manufacturers such as Rolies, in that we still demand originality in case and dial design.  When I first saw the Barracuda I mistook it for an O7 G Series, and so I falsely dismissed it as a homage brand; or even a company who cut such a huge corner that they purchased their cases from a factory in another country that supplies generic cases.

Ralf did his company such a HUGE service by becoming a 'voice' behind a starter company by participating on this forum, and as such, we paid attention.  With our combined threads, interest and INPUT in Benarus, we have seen a multitude of new designs; and even a brand new case in the Megalodon.

It would be easy for Benarus to buy another case off the shelf, and I am sure we would continue to smile politely, and wait for something that we could really wrap our wrists around.  However, in a very short time, Ralf has brought Benarus closely to the front of a very competitive market, and has (dare I say it?) rewarded our loyal patience with newer and original designs.
