Steve,

I have a question, do you think you and Ralf may offer interchangeable bezels for the Moray II?  Black, ceramic, or black with lume might be cool.  Just thought I'd ask.  I am about to pre-order the Moray II looks great but that's not a surprise!

Thanks!
Mark

No changeable bezels or case backs this time. The bezels from the Moray 1 will not fit the Moray 2. The Moray 1 bezel was on pretty tight and some damaged the watches and bezels by not having the right tools or knowledge.

The Moray 2 bezel will be even more secure and will be very difficult to remove.

The casebacks were just not a popular item and we will no be making extras for the Moray 2.

Here's a seemingly dumb question- Though the Moray 1 bezel will not fit the Moray 2, will the Moray 2 bezel fit the Moray 1?

The Moray 2 bezel will be more securely attached than the Moray 1 and if you try and remove it, you will probably damage the watch. If you managed to get it off, it probably won't fit the Moray 1 because we are rebuilding the case from scratch at a different factory and if it is a fraction of a millimeter different, it will not work right.

So the Moray 2 will use a brand new case compared to the Moray 1. Will this be obvious when the two watches are placed side by side (other than the difference in thickness)? Or will the difference be minor and not easily observed by the naked eye?

it will look the same. Ralf said today that he could probably get the case back threads to be exact, so the old case back would screw on, I have the extra case backs for sale here, and that would give you the 1mm thinner watch. I am not saying this is going to happen, but he will see. with the thinner case back the pressure resistance would drop back to 500m instead of 1000m.

The bezels will be more secure on the Moray 2, not that the Moray 1 was not secure... they were very tight, but if you try and remove a bezel from Moray2 you will probably bend the bezel, or scratch the watch case.

The lug bars will be designed to take the single piece screw bar and we will also supply fat spring bars that fit the holes as well.

Hi Steve,

Will Benarus be producing a 24mm steel bracelet that could fit any of their watches? Or possibly just one for the Moray?

All our watches have different shapes at the lugs, one bracelet will not fit every different design, unless it has no end links and is flat like a mesh bracelet.

I am not sure why we need to produce a 24mm bracelet for all of our watches... the Barracuda came with one, the Sea Devil came with one, The Moray 1 came with one (and most took it off), the Megalodon came with one, The Remora will come with a 22mm, and the Moray 2 will not have one because we feel the watch looks best without a steel bracelet and most took them off of the Moray 1.

there are plenty of sites with 24mm bracelets for sale.

For more details on why we are not making a bracelet for the Moray 2, please read on page 1 of this thread, I am posting again below:

1. The first Moray case and bracelet was made by a different factory. We are re creating the case of the Moray 2 with a new factory, we would have to re design and build a bracelet from scratch with a large minimum order.

2. Most people removed the bracelet on the Moray 1 and used custom straps. Believe me it was a nightmare with the Loc-Tite that the factory put on the lug bars, I was flooded with emails of frustrated customers damaging their watches and breaking screws trying to remove the bracelet. I put a lot of hours and shipping cost into having people send in their watches so I could take the bracelet off for them. The last few dozen Morays I personally loosened and replaced the screws before I shipped the watch and I asked the customer if they even wanted the bracelet on when I shipped it.

3. Creating a new bracelet at this time, with the added features of the new Miyota 9015 movement and the new 1000m case with auto HRV would increase the cost too much, I would estimate $100-$150 more and our goal is to have these near $500 not $700 (The 9015 is 3x the cost of the 8215 in the Moray 1). Our goal is to build the best quality watch possible and keep the cost for the customer down as low as possible.

4. The lug bar and screw design is going to be different, this is a detail that is subject to change and what I was referring to about details that could change. The screw bars are problematic, many people are damaging their watches and loosing screws. We are looking into a new lug bar set up. This is one reason that the old bracelets will probably not fit on a Moray 2.

5. The Moray watch case is perfect to use with custom made leather straps, rubber straps from many manufacturers, nato, zulu, and about anything that you can find in 24mm, so there is no shortage of straps out there. I personally have never had the bracelets on my 2 Morays.
