Howdy y'all I just stopped in to indtroduce meyself  my name is Guy Smith and I am 47 years old, happily married with children. I am former US Marine infantry NCO, after the military I was a sous chef in fine dining restaurants for about 15 years, much of that time spent working in Colorado ski resorts in Vail and Beaver Creek. I also spent a few years as a computer repair guy and now work in the corporate offices of Bob Evans Restaurants

My hobbies include the shooting sports, woodworking, knife making, playing the guitar, camping ,and riding my vintage motorcycle. I am also a tinkerer, I have a very mechanical mind and no fear of taking a machine apart and putting it back together. I can spend days in my workshop building things or modifying things.

As far as the watch hobby I'm fairly new to the game with only about 2 years of experience  with Swiss Automatics, I prefer what I call tool watches, watches that do a job, I'm not into jewelry and I could not tell a diamond from a rhinestone, but I have always appreciated old world craftsmanship whether it's in a hand forged blade, hand made violin, custom engraved rifle, or a top tier time piece.

Here are a few pictures of me and some of the things I like.
This is me and my customized Fender Telecaster, I rewired the guitar with all new pickups and electronics, it sounds a whole lot better than I can play it.

Here is one of me and my 1977 BMW R100S, she is an old bike but with over 200k on the odo she is still going strong. Sadly I don't get to ride as much as I used to but a wife and child will do that.

This is one of my knives made using the stock relife method, it has a pattern Damascus blade, Sambar stag handle, blood wood and maple spacers and there is a compass in the pommel.

And this is my 70's era M-14 S&W K38 Target Masterpiece, often referred to as " The Gentleman's Target Revolver", pictured here with a custom made snake skin holster made by Mr. David Newcomb. This revolver is by far the most accurate handgun I have ever fired. Folks often speak of their grail watches, this is my grail handgun.

Finally here is a picture of an ETA 2824-2 movement  that I picked up on the bay for $12 that I have been tinkering with for the last few months, I have been taking it apart and putting it back together, just a little bit farther each time. In this shot with the rotor removed you can see the workings underneath. I have made many of my own tools because I'm just to darn cheap to buy them. :) You can tell from the buggered up screws that I'm an amateur, but  I guess you could say I'm learning the hard way. When I get confident enough I may replace the screws and actually build a watch or I might just use this movement for parts. I have not decided yet.

Well that's about it for now, if you have any questions just ask, I'll answer them if I can, and make something up if I can't. snoopy1.gif
Best Regards
Guy Smith
