Hello all. First post here. I have always been fascinated with timepieces, both clocks and wristwatches. While I have always had a watch or two, I have never kept a third one in play. I don't know what has happened to me, but recently I have developed a brain tumor or something, but I have gone wild in the watch accumulation department.

I appreciate the comments about watches I am able to read here, and am currently seeking advice on a winder ( for two watches preferred ) and a display / storage case for watches. I have been reading about winders and cases on Ebay and Amazon and have yet to make my move. Am leading towards Swiss Tech winder and 20 watch case. Any feedback about either of those would be appreciated.

Watch wise, my most recent purchase is a Tag Formula F1 from Costco. Is black faced and hard to find at Costco as the black face has sold out at ALL but one of the local Costcos...  That was until last night when they sold out the last one to me! I think I may return the watch, however because even though it was a good price, I am not crazy about the watch and the purchase seemed to be more about the fact that I was getting the last one, rather than getting one I wanted. The Tag I truely want is a Link Calibre S, of course the cost difference is substantial, but getting a Tag I didn't want will probably keep me from ever gettting the Tag I actually want. Also, the Tag F1 that is sold at Costco is an old model, not the one you will see at Amazon that has the date window at 3:00, but between 3 and 6... AND a much less attractive face than the other more current watches...

So, in any case, hello. My name is Paul, and I live in Southern California, Orange County more specifically. Any comments about my Tag rant or case or winder suggestions will be appreciated.

Paul

Warm welcome to 3T, Paul.hand6.gif

I will let the other members on 3T jump in to answer your questions about the winder. Personally though, I never believed in them and never bothered to have one.

Welcome to 3T Paul, I think you'll find this watch forum to be both fun and educational.  Here are my 2 cents, take the Tag Heuer F1 back and save for the Link Calibre S.  I doubt you would ever regret having the Link but with the F1 you'll always think about the Link.  Good luck with the decision and post some pictures of your new watch, cheers.  woohoo.gifwoohoo.gif

Welcome! I don't have a ton of experience with watch winders - but I recently bought a Brookstone quad winder and it is wonderful! I found a nice price on craigslist though - didn't pay full price. Many will suggest paying 5 times more for a top end winder, but then I would agree with others here and just buy another watch (or three) for that price range and just hand wind them as needed~

Regardless, welcome!

Welcome aboard!  It's not really a sickness (brain tumor) more like an obsession!

Welcome on board and post often!

I have some winders and find them useful for non quickset date watches or other watches with complications that are not easy to set.  I also use them to simulate a wear cycle when I regulate watches.  Get ones with programmable cycles, and research the movements of your watches so you know the direction as well as the number of revolutions required to keep it wound.  Forget about keeping them in your bedroom - -they tend to be fairly noisy!

Get the Calibre S instead: you will not regret it.

Crossed a Tag off the list of watches I want. Bought a Link 1110, not the Calibre S. After looking and playing with both, I chose the watch with the simple cleaner look. There's always next time if I get tired of this one. After a respectable waiting period, I will be looking for the Jazzmaster Slim and a Ventrua... Not a lot of Hamilton dealers around here. Saw a Longines watch I liked today too, but when we get that close to Rolex territory... I think I might just go a little more in and get the Rolex.

Enjoying the site,

Paul
