Ok so I am not Cambodian per se. I am an Australian permanently based in Cambodia ! I stumbled upon TTT the other day and this site has really REALLY opened up my eyes to the world of watches beyond the usual. I have always loved a good watch and currently own two Seikos - an auto DIVER 200 and a DAYTONA CHRONO. I am currently looking to reward myself and my requirements are these ;   a) Size ; I like to know I am wearing a watch and I like to feel it and be able to read it. Anything over 45mm diameter - pref to 50mm ++ b) Durability - I slam my watches daily. c) Cost - Sub US$500   So far I have cottoned on to the following watches and they are all very new to me both in brand and in style as I have traditionally been a chrono guy. ;   1. Casio Protrek PRG-80YT  ; I started looking at G Shocks on eBay a little while ago and then met a guy here in Cambodia that had just bought one of these. This is a very large watch and has a compass, altimeter and barometer which are all very handy here. I think the large digital numbers and light will be good for my eyes and by all accounts a very tough watch. Price is great too. I also like the Casio G Shock GW6900-1 but I don't really need multiple timers or world time zones. 2. Seiko SKZ255 ; One hell of a nice looking watch !! Has the size I want and price point is great BUT just a basic watch - albeit NICE ! I really like the look of these with a NATO strap too.... 3. Seiko SNZE91-J1. I saw a chap on a watch site who has one with a sanded Jeanna strap and it looks awesome for $120 or so ! 4. MYM Blackhawk Special Ops watch ; Not a big Jack Bauer fan but these are very nice if not a bit pricey.   Just wondering what you think about these or have I missed some other watches ?   I want to create something special and TTT site has really opened my eyes.........

Thankyou very much

Justin

ps; In an $$ideal$$ world I would buy a PANERAI fer sure.

Welcome to 3T.  Well, searching for a new watch is always a blast...you'll find plenty of great ideas hanging out around here.  There's a review area and a 'wrist check' area too where you'll see plenty of eye candy to get you thinking about your next one!

;) Hey in my ideal world all the watch companies would send me one of each...
:D

Warm Welcome to 3T, Kidkhmerhand6.gif.

To answer your question, I'd vote for the Seiko SKZ247/251/255 series. They are so well-made and make ideal tool watches which fit your "I slam my watches daily..." lifestyle. The Frankenmonsters also sit perfectly on your price requirements.

Hope these 2 Frankenmonsters below, 2 of my recent posts, help you decide fastersubtlelaugh.gif

Welcome to 3T! And good luck with the search, I love looking around for a new watch! I like the frankmonster with blue dial that Bigrustypig posted. Sorry I don't know any if the watches you wrote about by name, do you have stock pics of them? Have you checked Orient watches? They have some nice and affordable watches.
You could also look at a used Benarus Sea Devil, it is pretty substantial on the wrist, is well built and fits your budget.
Brice

Thanks for the welcome all !

BRP,
I now have a current eBay bid on a GUN METAL Frankenmonster SKZ255 :) and I have already contacted Jeanna about a strap. I actually love that blue one with the silver strap. Very nice watch. Looks like I am going to have to get some watch tools to change everything around now that I discovered 3T and the options out there.

I love the Seikos though. Here is the one I am wearing today, it cost $120 and will soon sport a James Bond Blue Striped NATO strap ( it is currently on a rip-off Panerai Strap ! ). I have had it 8 years and it has had the crap kicked out of it and still looks great.

Kidkhmer, that's a nice watch you're wearing. It's a very traditional Seikohand6.gif.

The SKZ255 is a really good one. Prices will vary a bit if Made in Asia or Made in Japan. My Frankenmonster are surprisingly very accurate and I am very happy with them as tool watches.

I hope you win the bid, mate:)

Well.....I did not win the watch and now I am in real trouble. I found these Marina Militaire watches on the web yesterday ( I really must do some work ! ) and well....things are getting worse. I now want about 4 watches.

Damn you 3T !
