It's the second winder I've bought off the bay (the first was a 4 winder) and both have worked perfectly (the 4 was a little noisy).

Little late to the discussion, but I've got a 8 winder that I bought off eBay; yes, one of the "cheapies" at under $90 shipped. It's working perfectly to date. No issue keeping my watches wound and it's super silent. It's the second winder I've bought off the bay (the first was a 4 winder) and both have worked perfectly (the 4 was a little noisy).
