Ratings are subjective things, but we have not (in my experience) seen anything like a rating system for straps, bracelets or (dare I say it - watches...). It is certainly because each person's perception is different, and I guess from the watch perspective, I might like a cheapo that no-one else would buy, and for some of us only a watch costing tens of thousands could ever rate highly.
So let's leave watches alone for a moment and look at straps. I reckon there is a point to using a star rating system for straps incoming. My suggestion is that there be no mention of price (I guess we are all aware of what they cost anyway). The opinions of WISs mean more than a subjective "...ooh - that looks nice, dear..." from my Aunty Bet who can barely see!
Understanding that there are variations in perceived value for money, and understanding the subjective nature of an opinion, what do you think about this system - would it help anyone?
We should have a 5 star rating for straps:
***** Highly recommended
Described well by the seller, made well, comfortable right out of the box, packed and shipped well - perfect from day 1. Sell something and buy one.
**** Recommended
Darn near perfect, described well by the seller, made well, packed and shipped well, could use some time to adjust to the wearers wrist.
*** OK
Good, but not the best. Description OK, made OK, maybe a few QC issues, packed OK, shipped OK. The comfort might or might not improve over time. The one you get might be better than the one I got.
** Think twice
OK- its a strap, but it could have been better described, or better built, or sent more quickly for the postage you paid. Not quite what you thought you were going to get. Seller with poor comms. Don't think you'll ever get another one.
* Think again
Poor experience with the way the strap or bracelet is described. Postage took for ever or was expensive. Not well made. Not comfortable now - doubt it will improve. Spend money elsewhere. Will not get another one. Ever.
