I guess Wenger were pretty big with the pocket knives until the mid 80s. Then Gerber multi-tools became the thing to have - much handier for opening electronics. Plus the ban on carrying knives in the UK would have hit some of their market recently. A move into something traditionally Swiss would expand the business, and cuckoo clocks aren't great sellers these days. I quite often see the basic Infantry watch in home-shopping catalogues, pretty much aiming at a trend that a lot of rugged outdoors brands should also sell rugged accessories (like Timberland boots now have watches too).
