 It's all personal taste.  The black dial STOWA's leave me cold also...but the color dials warm me up.  I've owned the Lime and pink dial (sold the pink) and love it...the melon and wine dial are also nice.  I simply think that the STOWA PD is such a hunk of sterile machinery, it needs something to bring it to life!
