 The Caliber 5 movement should use an ETA2824 as a base.  That said, the movement is most likely an unregulate version.

I don't see gaining 17 seconds per day as a very big problem, or even a problem.  He should be able to take it to a qualified watchmaker and have it regulated fairly cheaply, and once done it should run very well.
