Dora, my dobermann will sometimes "move" the unattended cell phone around. She doesn't rip into it, just mouths it. But generally leaves the GPS devices alone. It must be the ringing. It can be annoying to hear the phone ring and not find it in time to receive the call. Invariably it's at one of her "spots".
In the end we know the companionship of a dog is worth all the dumb stuff that can get chewed up along the way.
