Imho, Omega isn't really superior to Oris when you come right down to what you are getting for your money. Omega does have a more recognizable name and is able to charge more for their watches due to spending more money on advertising nad having a couple iconic models such as the Seamaster and Speedmaster.

I have handled both brands and have found Oris to be every bit the equal, if not the superior to the Omegas I've handled. Now, Omega does have some very high end pieces and reaches a price point beyond Oris in that regard, but I am pretty certain both are modifying base movements and are not true manufactures. Omega is part of the Swatch group and therefore has access to ETA movements while I believe Oris started using Sellita movements as the base for many of their models.

I've known several WIS who have run through Omegas and they just never seem to stick to them, while it it almost universally known that Oris provides a huge value in their watches providing excellent fit and finish and a quality product.

That being said... I have a hankering for an Omega myself!;)

JMHO!:D
