It had to be sent to the factory for "refurbishing".
Four weeks and $400 dollars later he got it back, new crystal, new Jubilee style bracelet, and the movement was cleaned, adjusted, and lubed. He was happy...for about a week, when the crystal clouded up with condensation. An issue he didn't have before sending it to the factory.
It has not come back yet, but at least they are making good on it, and there will be NC for the second trip overseas.
He's wearing a $70 dollar Swatch in the meantime.
Similar story with mine. I wore it in a hot tub on vacation and water somehow got in it. Buggered up the movement and dial. After 6 weeks and my wallet 1K lighter, I got it back. Basically everything except the case and bracelet was replaced. Although its been fine ever since but I don't even wear it that often.
