 It is certainly an interesting issue... some watches show 30 facing outward while 45 and 15 face inward. 

Another interesting detial is to examine the direction that numbers on the dial face.  On ORIS TTI or SEIKO Monster the small numbers on the dial all face to the bottom of the watch.  So numbers between 3 - 9 face to the outside of the dial, while numbers above 9 - 3 face inward.  This keeps all the numbers oriented to the person wearing the watch.  Take a look at a SEIKO Monster, to see what I mean.

And notice the 30 is upside down !  So there is probably no correct answer.  Suffice to say, that Ralf was aware of what he was doing, and this makes the MORAY unique.  Also, I believe it makes the watch look bigger, as the eye is drawn naturally from the bezel to the outside edge.
