Like you're saying Parabola, I read a few articles that where saying it's no good to apply backward pressure to stop the second hand and i would say it's not recommended but I've been doing that with all my SEIKO auto anyway. I have 5 of them and never had any problems after doing so for years. Same thing with the two other watches i have with Miyota mvt, including the SeaDevil. I have to say that when i adjust the time, the watch is unwinded and by moving the hands with the crown, the residual tention of the spring makes the second hand to start but with very litle tention which makes the process easier. You will not be able to stop the second hand if main spring is completly winded. Hope this helps.
