The answer is not so clear. In the 70's, the terms were used interchangably. My tuning fork Movado/Zenith with the Omega tuning fork movement was called an "Electronic" on the dial, whereas American watches like Accutron and Hamilton that were the first battery powered watches were refered to as "Electrics."
