My only quibble...and a minor one, is that it makes the watch look a little like the Quiksilver / Nixon "Woodie-Wagon" style watches.  I'm sure the veneers will have good visual depth under good lighting, but in everyday situations, I'm not so sure.

It's a unique choice of materials, for sure.  Very daring for an established brand like Cartier.  As for the blue cabochon, I reckon it was a better choice to leave it off.  If they really wanted a cabochon, I reckon something more earthy hued like Agate, Amber or Chalcedony would really set off the brown of the wood accents.

I like Cartier, though not the Roadster as I'm more of a Pasha guy!  We've got a Cartier at home - mom has a Tank, on some Teju Lizard or something strap, that she only wears for really formal do's.  There's something infinitely cool when the media refers to the brand as the "House of Cartier".
