When you are just throwing together parts that someone has manufactured some were, how are you going to do any thing any diff. than the other guys. Some pieces are unique, but the quality is hit and miss at best and god forbid it not work or break. If you change manuf. and they own the parts design, you have to buy it or get a new one designed (is easier than it sounds in large scale). Running just a few CNC machines is easier (if you make a mistake only mess up a few) but expensive due to the human labor (not much of in large scale production).
Foot note: Most plants in China have there own designers and work up there own prototypes by modifying existing drawings. A prime example is the Oceanaut and Corvette CR-203 same watch production facility (still do not know who). Nisimov and Oceanaut did not work up the designs from the ground up.
