For under $3-K, personally I would go for a Breitling (Navitimer or Montbrillant), Tissot Heritage or RGM. If I had the money, I would go for them as a really nice watch to enjoy.

But being on this forum and getting to know the guys here a little more, you realize that beauty is in the construction and feel of a watch, and you don't need to flash the brand. For watch enthusiasts, you appreciate the acknowledgement from someone who recognizes the watch on your wrist for its "underground" appeal, there are many watchmakers out there who make great watches with great movements for under $1K.
