I,like a lot of other posters would opt for a German manufacturer.
To me they just scream understated quality,i love my Sinn U1 and my three Stowas but if i could spend a bit more the following would be on my radar

Dornbluth & son 99.1
Just two of the great German watches out there!
Mind you i also love the IWC Portugese!!
