Do you guys think Rolex is making a mistake by not making a more affordable model?

I know Rolex makes perhaps the most durable casing in the world on their watches, but I looked at a Rolex explorer brand new and the guy wants $4k for a watch that is so simple. Famous name of course, but I feel like Omega is a better buy in comparison or an Oris if you can't go past $2k. Do you guys think Rolex is making a mistake by not making a more affordable model?
