I have a hunch it's named after Lord Bamford, the founder of JCB the manufacturers of road diggers in Gloucester,England. His real name is Sir Anthony Bamford, with a fortune around 950 Million GBP (Great British Pound). Lord Bamford has a sizable collection of vintage and historic racing and sports cars. If anyone have seen Alain de Cadenet's Victory by Design on Speed Channel, it features a variety of cars which are owned by Bamford Excavators. This is the private holding company of Lord Bamford. Cheers, Simon
