I took today my Accurist divers depth meter watch to the shop to replace the battery. Got a call from them saying that the depth meter failed to work, and that they could try to fix it, for US$ 40, with a 50-50 chance of success. If not successful, just the module cost was around US$ 200. Everything else is working OK. I had no battery in the watch for 4 years now (just decided to have it working because of my reinvigorated watch passion...), and I won't be using it a lot. I am done with diving, quit it in 2002 and not likely to resume (sold all the gear) and, if I do, I do not think I would trust a repaired watch, and would rely on a diving computer. So I said not to the repair, just battery change. So the question, am I right with my reasoning? In my view, I better spend the money on a Watchadoo bracelet (which I need to use the watch, as the current rubber one is destroyed). Opinions?
