I have weared mine frequently for many years and the bezel looks good still so I don`t think Tissot made a bad job there.
Well, the thing is that the paint they used is nothing else than mat acrylic paint: I guess a glossy paint or a bezel insert would have take the class up a bit... Meaning that it look a bit cheap...
In that case, a sharp stainless-stell bezel would give more charm I think
