 I have purchased both watches and straps from Yuri Levenberg. All the watches arrived in new condition. One was the wrong model, but I just kept it. I received some straps that were the wrong size and I emailed him and he sent me new replacements (after I returned the wrong ones). I used to send my emails to him in english and in german (via a translator on my mac). He did reply except for once when I just asked a question about availability. Some of the straps I bought turned purple. Most were ok. All of the watches were ok.

My guess is you received either a serviced watch, a return (that wasn't checked out) or the watch was bulk shipped in poor packaging to the seller (Levenberg). All are possible.

As for the hole in the back, I'd have to see it, but that doesn't sound right. The case back can be used as a sounding board for the alarm, but it shouldn't be as you describe. At least I don't think so. Attached is a picture of your models case back taken from ruwatch.com. Keep emailing Levenberg.
