Simon,

I'm sorta familiar with this mental illness. A very close family member struggled with the "roller coaster" for years and although they have beat it for the most part, going through the issues with them was hard enough.

I agree with your attitude; Chuck Swindoll once wrote...

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.”

I also agree with Brice about a support network. A Church based support group may be very helpful. But, please do not be afraid to seek medical help to deal with the symptoms while you sort out the root causes. Most of all find someone you can talk to and do just that. Do not be afraid of "whining, complaining and being a nuisance" I have met many people who have talked themselves out any positive progress because they were unable to be "real" about there situation. Remember "fine" is a setting on a washing machine.:D

As you deal with your hurdles, I'll leave with these words from Chuck Swindoll again...

“We are all faced with a series of great opportunities brilliantly disguised as impossible situations.”

God Bless,

Bill
