I think the first Pilots that were issued had black dials thus the homages and re-issues came out in black.

It takes a little bit of time to get used to the Big Pilots on your wrist (about 3 to 5 seconds subtlelaugh.gif) but once you've slapped them on, you'll find a reluctance to remove them. The onion-shaped, bulbous crown is a distinction of the Big Pilot. It simply has to be there at that size.

Hope this helps.

Ahh ... that explains the black and the crown.  I have 2 black watches already and prefer the lighter colored ones.  But if it's heritage of the model, then perhaps that wins out!

I have a 51mm Nixon and it took some getting used to ... now it's fun to wear ... and gives a different excuse as to why my left arm is bigger than the right ... face4.gif

I didn't care much for the Stowa or Archimede style.
The Azimuth's are sick ... but I'd rather buy 5 $500 watches than one $$$ one ... know what I mean?  This is sick though!!!

YUMMY YUMMY!
