Here's the watch in question. You can see the problem in this pic too, I can't believe I never noticed it!



As far as removing the crystal, I'd be worried about what little water resistancy it has being compromised.

Isn't it easier removing the movement, then manually moving the hand? I really don't know myself, but thought it seemed easier that way.
